dunno if it'll ever really tame by clover kicker (4.00 / 1) #2 Thu Dec 20, 2007 at 06:51:49 AM EST
Growing up, one of our cats was born a barn cat. He was always a little bit wild, and sometimes vicious. One night, for no apparent reason, he basically attacked dad. That was the end of him.

I have a vivid memory by clover kicker (2.00 / 0) #6 Thu Dec 20, 2007 at 09:32:41 AM EST
of the next morning, dad walking out of the house, holding the cat by the scruff with one hand, and a wrist-thick stick of firewood in the other.

He paddled the cat? by wiredog (2.00 / 0) #7 Thu Dec 20, 2007 at 09:35:58 AM EST
I don't know whether to laugh, or be horrified.

and yet laughing.

I guess I'm just one of those really sick types. Not that we didn't all know that already....

Go grief woman? Don't you ever clean? by greyrat (4.00 / 1) #4 Thu Dec 20, 2007 at 08:01:10 AM EST
Actually, my "office" looks like that.

Interesting and noble effort -- taming the cats, I mean. I'm afraid it'll all end in tears. Also, here's an interesting dilemma: If you start spaying and neutering, the clan that is left in the wild is guaranteed to die off. There'll be no young ones to take care of the old ones. Is it more or less humane to domesticate them or leave them to their own devices?

It's the time of year. by muchagecko (4.00 / 1) #5 Thu Dec 20, 2007 at 09:19:05 AM EST
Something has to give. Unfortunately it's things like my desk and sanity that draw the short stick when up against gingerbread cookies, Christmas cards and last minute present shopping.

Lunar Paw is the only one we're trying to domesticate. The others may only be spayed and neutered to become coyote dinners.

It'll take kitty a few more days to adopt you guys ;) Remind me to tell you all about my 2007 summer drama with feral cats, house mate, death, and destruction.

She is very cute, by the way!

How the #### hasn't she found me yet?  They want me to live with them?  How do these people even survive if they can't find me right here?

She may be really smart. by muchagecko (4.00 / 1) #15 Tue Jan 08, 2008 at 12:29:18 PM EST
She may think we're really stupid. But she's not like any kitty we've ever been around before.

Thanks
